Be a Friend of the
Riverview Library!
Friends of the
Riverview Library is a non-profit
organization which recognizes the
library’s needs and are committed to doing
something about them.
The group of supporters and
volunteers is dedicated to enhancing the
resources and services of the Riverview
Library.
Beside
volunteering to help at the library, Friends
raises funds to purchase books, special
materials, and software to upgrade equipment
not covered by the county budget.
These funds are needed to meet
ongoing educational needs.
How
the Riverview Library Began
Did
you Know...
The
original Riverview Library was a bus called
“Riverview Station.”
In
1972, realizing the need to build a library
for the growing community, the Riverview
Woman’s Club began the movement to build a
library.
In
1974, the Riverview Library Association was
organized to begin the search for an
appropriate site.
In
1976, Gardinier Incorporated was approached,
and later consented to donate the site
located on Riverview Drive, one block west
of U.S. 301.
Construction of the library was
started in September of 1978, and the
Dedication Ceremony was held on November 19,
1979.
